Open your heart out
ROCKING BANGALORE with their cool new show are RJ's Vatsala Isaac and Joel Sikha. "The show's primary aim is to
help youngsters maintain a set of principles that will help them get through the many problems they will and are facing nowadays,"
says Vatsala, a Communicative English student from Mount Carmel College.
The show aptly named Radio Bang, aired every Thursday (FM 101.3) between 9.30 p.m. and 10 p.m., provides the
youth with a message along with playing music that they identify with.
"Our program is not an ordinary request show. The main motive of this show is to provide a sympathetic ear
to those troubled hearts who need a friend to talk to," says Joel. Every person goes through a rough patch in his or her life
and requires an understanding friend to help him cope with it. The RJ's on Radio Bang hope to do the same for their listeners
by encouraging them to call up and talk their heart out, promising anonymity. The various topics that the show has dealt with
so far include sensitive issues such as appearances, temptations, decisions and so on. Vatsals and Joel are young and enthusiastic,
making the show more feasible for the targeted age group to open up and get their feelings out.
"We hope to discuss more delicate matters in the coming shows and play an important role in getting these
issues out in the open," says Joel. The show produced by the Far East Broadcasting Associates was first aired on April 1 on
All India Radio (AIR).
"The response continues to increase week after week as more people tune in. Listeners are free to call up
the RJ's between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. every Thursday after the show is aired and voice their opinions," says Vatsala.
